The problem
A loyal local following, good products, and a Shopify store that visitors left without buying. The mobile checkout was awkward, product pages described features instead of answering questions, and against premium competitors the store looked generic.
The owner's instinct was to buy more traffic. More traffic into a leaking store is the most expensive way to stand still.
What I did
A full Shopify UX audit found four distinct drop off points in the funnel. Rather than redesigning everything at once, I worked through them in order of estimated revenue impact.
Product page layouts were rebuilt around benefits and objections rather than specifications. Mobile checkout was cut to two taps. Trust badges and social proof moved from the footer to the decision point, and a sticky add to cart bar was added on mobile.
On the search side, every product title and description was rewritten against real beauty search queries, collection pages were built out with genuine content, and image alt text and site structure were prepared for Google Shopping.
What happened
Conversion rose 55 percent within two months of launch. Cart abandonment fell 64 percent. Organic search traffic grew steadily as the content changes took effect.
The most useful outcome was commercial rather than technical: the store could cut paid social spend and still grow revenue, which changed the shape of the business.
